Breaking Record in Style – HONOR Magic V3 Balances Perfectly on World’s Tallest House of Cards!

HONOR Magic V3 has successfully balanced on top of the tallest house of cards during a Guinness World Record challenge, setting a new benchmark for ultra-lightness. As HONOR's latest thinnest, lightest and toughest foldable phone, weighing only 226g, the HONOR Magic V3 surpassed its predecessor.

The challenge was undertaken in collaboration with Bryan Berg, a Guinness World Record holder for card stacking. Berg successfully built a 54-level house of cards during a livestream on HONOR Global’s YouTube and X (formerly Twitter) platform yesterday. He spent eight hours constructing the tallest house of cards without using glue, and upon completion, he placed the HONOR Magic V3 on top. The delicate structure stood firm, with no movement, demonstrating the foldable’s incredible lightweight design and innovative engineering.

HONOR Magic V3 vs washing machine: The Ultimate Durability Test

The HONOR Magic V3 redefines sleekness with its ultra-thin profile, measuring just 9.2mm when folded and an impressively slim 4.35mm when unfolded. To further showcase its durability, HONOR subjected the device to a 15-minute washing machine test.

The results, which can be viewed on HONOR Malaysia’s official Facebook page, showed that the foldable not only resisted scratches but also exhibited outstanding waterproofing capabilities, reaffirming its robust build quality. Wondering how the HONOR Magic V3 could achieve lightweight and durability?  Here’s why.

First smartphone brand utilizes Super Fiber material

The HONOR Magic V3’s back cover is crafted from a unique fiber made from aerospace materials, offering an unparalleled strength of 5800MPa. This material surpasses both Kevlar and carbon fiber in strength, ensuring that the device remains both lightweight and extraordinarily durable.

As the first smartphone brand to employ this advanced fiber, HONOR has created a body that is 40 times more impact-resistant than the Samsung S24 Ultra, while being 40% thinner, enabling it to withstand even the toughest conditions.

HONOR Super Steel Hinge, strongest and slimmest hinge material

At the core of the HONOR Magic V3’s durability is the industry-leading HONOR Super Steel Hinge, made from the Second-generation HONOR Super Steel. This material boasts a tensile strength of 2100MPa, significantly exceeding the 1600MPa strength of the Samsung Z Fold6’s steel hinge.

By reducing the hinge body thickness to an industry-best 2.84mm, HONOR has optimised the internal space for structural reinforcement, enhancing the device's overall resilience. The hinge is capable of withstanding up to 500,000 folds and also received the SGS Durability Certification, further cementing the device’s superior durability and reliability.

HONOR Anti-Scratch NanoCrystal Shield, 10 times anti-drop and anti-scratch

The HONOR Magic V3’s 6.43-inch external display is fortified with the HONOR Anti-Scratch NanoCrystal Shield, offering 10 times more drop and scratch resistance compared to regular glass. With a crystal density 50% higher than conventional materials, the display is designed to withstand accidental drops and daily wear and tear, providing unmatched protection, and ensuring that the device remains pristine even under challenging conditions.

IPX8 Water Resistant, highest for foldable phones

The HONOR Magic V3 also sets a new benchmark for water resistance among foldable smartphones, with an IPX8 rating, the highest available for a foldable. The phone is capable of withstanding submersion in water up to a depth of 2.5 meters, making it safe to use in light rain, accidental spills, and even full submersion, as demonstrated in the washing machine challenge. This level of water resistance ensures that the device remains fully functional and protected, significantly contributing to its longevity and overall user experience.
