La Tour d’Argent, the legendary 400-year-old Parisian dining establishment that inspired the hit 2007 Disney movie Ratatouille, is putting the finishing touches on its exclusive menus to be served at Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi later this month.
Metropole’s acclaimed modern French fine-dining restaurant Le Beaulieu will welcome the culinary team from La Tour d’Argent from Oct. 23-27 for a unique gastronomic takeover, offering guests and local diners an extraordinary 8-course dinner menu and 5-course lunch menu.
The 8-course dinner is priced at VND 5,500,000++ per person (with an optional VND 2,500,000++ for add-on wine pairing). The 5-course lunch is priced at VND 2,800,000++ per person (with an optional VND 1,200,000++ for add-on wine pairing). Advance reservations and payments are required and limited seats remain.
The French epicurean icon La Tour d’Argent is a national landmark that has stood on the banks of the River Seine since 1582.
For more than four centuries, La Tour d’Argent has been a pillar of French gastronomic heritage, serving royalty, aristocrats, world leaders and cultural icons, with guests including Henry VIII of France, Alexander II of Russia, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Winston Churchill, U.S. President John F. Kennedy, Elizabeth Taylor, Humphrey Bogart and many others.
Helmed by Executive Chef Yannick Franques, awarded the Meilleurs Ouvriers de France (the country’s most prestigious honor for craftsmanship), the Michelin-starred restaurant is renowned for its classic yet contemporary style of French cuisine, along with a remarkable wine cellar that houses more than 300,000 of the finest vintages.
At the heart of La Tour d’Argent’s culinary legacy is its celebrated pressed duck, a dish of such distinction that every serving has been meticulously recorded since 1890, with the total now having exceeded 1 million. Diners who indulge in this iconic experience receive a uniquely numbered certificate, joining a list of illustrious patrons including U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt (Certificate #112,151) and Charlie Chaplin (Certificate #253,652). Now, diners will have the opportunity to experience this legendary dish right in the heart of Hanoi.
Le Beaulieu, operating in its current space since 1901, is believed to be the oldest continually operating restaurant in Vietnam. It is renowned for serving modern French cuisine with nods to classical French flavors and an emphasis on seasonality and superior ingredients. While there are some traditional French touches, the presentation is stylish, with well-balanced portions and fresh produce from France, Vietnam and elsewhere. Le Beaulieu was recently listed in the prestigious MICHELIN Guide 2024.
