The Earth Encounters Mars in August
The Red Planet is about to be spectacular!
This month and next, Earth is catching up with Mars in an encounter that will culminate in the closest approach between the two planets in recorded history. The next time Mars may come this close is in 2287. Due to the way Jupiter's gravity tugs on Mars and perturbs its orbit, astronomers can only be certain that Mars has not come this close to Earth in the Last 5,000 years, but it may be as long as 60,000 years before it happens again.
The encounter will culminate on August 27th when Mars comes to within 34,649,589 miles of Earth and will be (next to the moon) the brightest object in the night sky. It will attain a magnitude of -2.9 and will appear 25.11 arc seconds wide at a modest 75-power magnification.
Mars will look as large as the full moon to the naked eye.
Mars will be easy to spot. At the beginning of August it will rise in the east at 10p.m. and reach its azimuth at about 3 a.m.
By the end of August when the two planets are closest, Mars will rise at nightfall and reach its highest point in the sky at 12:30a.m. That's pretty convenient to see something that no human being has seen in recorded history. So, mark your calendar at the beginning of August to see Mars grow progressively brighter and brighter throughout the month. Share this with your children and grandchildren.

9 things you didn't know about sleep
Eight hours of sleep every night was once considered the norm.
However, society has become so fast-paced that many working adults are surviving on less sleep than before. Many feel that there is too much to do within a day, and hence make do with as little as four to five hours of sleep a day. Such voluntary sleep deprivation can have significant adverse effects on one's day-to-day performance and result in numerous health problems in the long run.
So before you dismiss those eight hours in bed as a waste of precious time, read on to learn why sleep is so crucial to one's health and wellbeing.
The link between sleep and memory
Have you been having problems remembering things lately?
Before you panic and start to wonder if you are showing signs of dementia, ask yourself if you have been sleeping well.
Dr Ng Beng Yeong and Dr Victor Kwok from Singapore General Hospital note that people who sleep poorly tend to be more forgetful. This is because sleep is a time when memories get consolidated Hence, when you don't sleep well, your brain is unable to properly process and store your memories.
Stave off Alzheimer's - in bed
If you are worried about developing Alzheimer's disease, one thing you can do to reduce your risks of developing this form of dementia is to get sufficient sleep.
Alzheimer's disease is characterized by a plaque-like substance - composed primarily of a protein fragment called amyloid beta - that builds up in the brain.
Sleep results in the clearance of amyloid beta, says Professor Michael Chee from the Cognitive Neuroscience Laboratory and Neuroscience and Behavioral Disorders Program at Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School . Hence, if you want to minimise amyloid beta buildup, you should make sure that you get enough sleep.
"I'm making the right decision...am I?"
Chronic sleep loss can actually distort your perception of your own abilities.
Prof Chee says that people who chronically lose sleep are not able to tell how badly their cognitive brain functions are affected.
Moreover, sleep deprivation can dangerously affect decision making in risky situations such as driving, he adds.
Sleep-deprived people are also more likely to make poor decisions because they struggle to remember and interpret important information. Their decisions are based on faulty or incomplete information collected and logged by a sleepy brain, say researchers from Washington State University .
Sleep more, lose weight
Lack of sleep actually affects the body's metabolism, notes Prof Chee. This increases one's chances of gaining weight or even becoming obese.
Sleep loss also affects one's overall health. "People who sleep less than they need are less likely to take part in activities that improve health. They tend not to exercise, eat unhealthy foods and engage in less leisure activities," he adds.
Power naps
A short siesta in the afternoon can be good for you, research has shown.
However, Dr Lim Li Ling, a consultant neurologist in private practice, advises against taking long daytime naps unless one is sleep deprived.
"Afternoon naps, if taken, should not exceed 20 to 30 minutes," says Dr Lim, who is also the Director of the Sleep Disorders Unit at Singapore General Hospital .. Long naps can make it harder to fall asleep at bedtime.
Should I work out or not?
Exercise is good for one's overall health. However, Dr Lim cautions against vigorous physical activity too close to bedtime.
Aerobic exercises such as running, swimming or cycling may make you tired, but the adrenaline produced during vigorous workouts can actually interfere with sleep.
Dr Lim says that one should not engage in vigorous exercise four hours before sleep.
Caffeine fiend
If you drink coffee regularly, try not to do so after lunchtime.
Dr Ng and Dr Kwok say that it takes approximately five hours for your body to remove just half the amount of caffeine in the coffee you imbibe.
More dangerous than a drunkard
Be careful if you cannot get enough sleep, especially if you are driving or operating machinery.
Dr Ng and Dr Kwok say that prolonged sleep deprivation can significantly impair one's alertness and brain function.
A person with sleep deprivation may perform even worse than someone who is drunk, they add.
Bananas a cure for insomnia?
Countless magazines and lifestyle resources recommend taking a glass of milk or eating a banana in order to make you sleepy. Such foods contain tryptophan, an amino-acid which has been linked to sleep.
However, such "tryptophan snacks" have not been shown to induce sleep, say Dr Ng and Dr Kwok.
In fact, some health resources note that over twenty glasses of milk would be needed in order to provide sufficient levels of tryptophan to make one sleepy.

This Nikon AF-S 24-70mm f/2.8 coffee cup is currently going for $50 on eBay. So when do you think we'll start to see more of these thermos lenses from other manufacturers such as Sony or Pentax?

DIABETES TREATMENT - Lady Fingers
Lady finger (Bhindi) is "OKURA"
Please note the that another name for Lady Finger (Bhindi ) is " OKURA ".
Last month in one of TV program I learnt of a treatment of Sugar (Diabetes).
Since I am diabetic, I tried it and it was very useful and my Sugar is in control now.
In fact I have already reduced my medicine. Take two pieces of Lady Finger (Bhindi) and remove/cut both ends of each piece.
Also put a small cut in the middle and put these two pieces in glass of water. Cover the glass and keep it at room temperature during night.
Early morning, before breakfast simply remove two pieces of lady finger (bhindi) from the glass and drink that water. Keep doing it on daily basis.
Within two weeks, you will see remarkable results in reduction of your SUGAR.
My sister has got rid of her diabetes. She was on Insulin for a few years, but after taking the lady fingers every morning for a few months,
she has stopped Insulin but continues to take the lady fingers every day.
But she chops the lady fingers into fine pieces in the night, adds the water and drinks it all up the next morning.
Please. try it as it will not do you any harm even if it does not do much good to you, but you have to keep taking it for a few months before you see results, as most cases might be chronic.

Soya Bean Good and Bad..
All of us know that soyabean drink provides good protein to our body... but many of us don ' t know that there are certain days we should avoid drinking it.
Soya bean drinks are best consumed on hot sunny days when the sun is strong. The soya milk will give lots of nutrients to the body as the body is able to absorb the protein well.
However, avoid the drink when the weather is cloudy or raining. Taking the drink in that weather, the body will not be able to take in the protein and will result in a disease called ?GOUT? or ' high acidic urine ' due to the high protein residue in the body, after a long run.
This disease will cause pain to your knee joints and it will only be in control when you control your food intake of proteins and medication. The pain is unbearable and usually you will have no idea what you have taken to cause the pain. Food like soya beans, anchovies, broccoli, spinach, peanuts, & n esp animal organs ( i.e. pork liver) etc will have to be avoided to prevent the pain from attacking.

Peppermint Peel of Mask from Skin Food.
I had finally try the mask from Skin Food which is the Pepper mint Mask. The mask was great. It is actually the peel off mask which peel off mask is use for getting rid of the dead skin and dirt and after using that mask I feel really refresh from it.

My Horoscope day
Since not much thing to do.. i specially look on my horoscope.. see wats my 2009 about... heres go

Aeroline Services..
Taking Aeroline to KL and this bus is named as so.. as the service is like aeroplane.. hahhaa.. this is my first time taking this bus.. and the service is really very good. I love the service very well.. most off all de bus din stop many times.. as well as it provide me with small pillow as well as blanket if u are asking… they pickup in 2 place which is not crowded which is in Queensbay mall and destination are mostly in malls.
They served Ayamas Chicken rice during the way as well as a cup of coffee/ milo or tea up to your choice… most important they have plugs for me to charge my laptop if I am using dem.. haha.. but I din use it as well.
Overall the service is 5/5 and very punctual. Recommended.
