Super-slim and super-light

To achieve the super-slim 1 cm profile and super-light 1 kg weight of Zenbook S 13 OLED, several advanced techniques and materials are used in its design and construction to reduce the weight and dimensions compared to the previous generation, without compromising performance, connectivity or battery life.

Display layer infusion: To achieve the incredibly slim profile, we've embedded a thinner yet fully featured FHD IR camera directly into the CNC-machined lid. We've also used a specially designed ultraslim OLED panel, resulting in a lid that's 30% slimmer.

Optimized internal layout: By using precision CNC machining, we make more space available in the interior for components. We use circuit boards with fewer layers and a higher wiring density, with many more transistors, giving better performance with less weight in a more compact space. The motherboard is precision-engineered to house an additional, ultrathin fan that increases airflow for better cooling. This makes the lower part of the laptop about 25% slimmer.

Materials choice: To minimize weight, durable and lightweight magnesium-aluminum alloy is used for the keyboard deck, formed with a CNC cutting process to create a rigid structure that doesn’t need any extra support. An extremely thin glass covering is used for the touchpad, resulting in a further 25% reduction in thickness in the keyboard deck.

The result is a class-defining ultraportable laptop that takes thin and light to a whole new level without compromises: it supports marathon video streaming sessions while offering improved cooling and performance compared to its predecessor. And despite its world-beating compact dimensions, Zenbook S 13 OLED retains full usability and features a comprehensive set of standard I/O ports.

All-round sustainability

ASUS is committed to do more with less through Zenbook. This device has a positive environmental across the entire product lifecycle, from material use and manufacturing, through to assembly, use, and end of life. We have mitigated its carbon footprint by incorporating recycled materials and designing more eco-conscious packaging.  

The device is the most eco-friendly Zenbook ever made, incorporating post-industrial recycled (PIR) magnesium-aluminum alloy in the keyboard cover, chassis and lid, reducing its carbon footprint by more than 50%4. The keycaps and speakers incorporate post-consumer-recycled (PCR) plastics, and the speakers also use ocean-bound plastics. We have redesigned the packaging to be 100% recyclable, with reusable and compostable materials. It uses 100% FSC Mix-certified paper from responsibly managed forests, controlled wood and recycled sources. The paper packing inserts can also be easily transformed into useful laptop stands. In addition, Zenbook S 13 OLED also exceeds the ENERGY STAR® energy efficiency standard by 60% to reduce the electricity consumption. Via above mentioned sustainable actions, the overarching goal of this device’s sustainability initiatives is to achieve carbon neutrality.

For the first time, we have used a special manufacturing process to create an ASUS-exclusive plasma ceramic aluminum material for the lid. This process uses pure water and electricity, and no organic compounds, strong acids, or heavy metals are required. Instead, this low-environmental-impact bath-based method produces a physical and chemical transformation of the aluminum. This results in increased wear resistance, corrosion protection, thermal management, hardness5, and lifespan.

Along with the physical advantages, the look and feel of this material is similar to natural stone that resonates with the spirit of the Zenbook series. Incredibly, this makes each lid individually unique. No two are alike. A longer laptop lifespan also reduces long-term waste, so Zenbook 13 S OLED is stringently tested using the latest MIL-STD-810H US military-grade durability standard.

 

Performance on the go

Zenbook S 13 OLED is an Intel Evo Edition laptop that features top-tier AI-powered Intel Core Ultra processors with built-in Intel Graphics. Intel Core Ultra processors include a dedicated engine to help unlock AI experiences, deliver the next level in immersive graphics, and enable high-performance low-power processing, so users can work, game and create while enjoying long battery life. Combined with the laptop's ultrafast up to 1 TB SSD storage, 32 GB RAM and WiFi 6E, this means that users will wait less and be able work faster, wherever they are.

One UI 6 Update: 7 Tips for Making the Most of AI Camera on Your Galaxy

 Samsung has been transforming the smartphone camera game since the release of the first Galaxy S in 2010. We’ve continually set new bars, introducing the world’s first 200MP camera sensor and the first low light Night Mode and high-powered Space Zoom settings on a phone. We’ve also brought revolutionary AI features to the smartphone category – with Galaxy’s smart and intuitive tech, it’s effortless for users to take exceptional photos and make professional quality edits.

Whether you’re a serious photographer who prefers a smartphone with professional-grade camera features, or an enthusiastic shutterbug who simply loves having more convenient ways to take great photos and videos, you can take your Galaxy camera  game to new heights with Samsung’s One UI 6 update.

Smart Functionality Simplifies Everyday

One UI 6 brings AI technology upgrades to the Galaxy camera that minimize the number of steps required to perform the operations you use most, while also ensuring every shot you take is a keeper.

1. Samsung Galaxy Enhance-X App : Instantly apply optimal edits to photos and videos with a single touch:

• Sky Guide lets you flex your astronomy knowledge — take a photo of the starry night sky and the feature will use AI to analyse the image and show you which constellation, stars, galaxies, nebulas and clusters you captured.

• Clean Lens ensures a shot looks exactly as you intended by removing blurriness from fingerprints on your camera lens.

• Slow-mo helps you create slow-motion shots of normal videos by generating extra frames.

• Long Exposure takes short videos (60 seconds or less) to the next level by analysing scenes and applying a long exposure effect, like a shot of busy road traffic transformed into beautiful light trails.

• Single Take, the popular feature on Galaxy cameras, is now available in Enhance-X. It applies AI analysis to videos and picks out the best photos and clips for instantly shareable content. In the Enhance-X app, you can apply Single Take to motion images and videos that you already captured, so you can make the most of a moment even after it has passed.

 

2. AI Image Clipping: Now, when you clip an object from a picture, you can instantly save it as a sticker that can then be added to other photos and videos whenever you want. A menu will pop up when you tap and hold the object, giving you the option to copy or share the cut-out or save it as a sticker or an image. If you save it as a sticker, you can easily pull it up and add it to other content whenever you’re in Editor on your phone or social apps.

 

3. Document Scan: Capturing and saving documents is easier than ever with the new ability to scan content, even when your Scene Optimizer setting is turned off. Now, your phone’s AI technology will detect when you take a photo of a document and automatically pop up the Auto Scan edit screen, where you can rotate, align and save it — no extra steps required. The feature can even automatically recognize fingers in the frame and remove them. And for an extra layer of professionalism, you can use Enhance-X to remove bulldog clips so the image only shows the intended scanned document.

 

New Settings Let You Personalize the Way You Take Pictures

With One UI 6, you can enjoy a host of options that let you customize your camera settings to suit your preferences and offer maximum convenience.

4. High Resolution Quick Setting: When you take photos in Photo or Pro Mode, there’s now a Resolution button in the Quick Settings menu at the top of the screen. One tap is all you need to instantly switch your camera to high resolution shooting and snap 200MP  photos.

 

5. Custom Camera Widgets: When the perfect moment suddenly arises, One UI 6 ensures you don’t have to waste precious moments navigating to your camera and choosing the right settings for the scene at hand. Now, you can save your go-to shooting modes as camera widgets that live on your home screen, so you can quickly tap a button when you want to snag a stunning Portrait or crisp nighttime selfie on the fly.

One UI 6 comes with enhanced features that make it easier than ever to take, view and organize your photos and make quick edits of every kind.

6. Intuitive Photo Editor Layout: One UI 6 brings a new and improved Tools menu to the Galaxy camera, so it’s easy to find and select the editing features you use the most. Plus, you can now correct the vertical and horizontal alignment of your photo on one convenient screen, thanks to the integration of the Straighten and Perspective functions in the Transform edit menu.

 

7. New Undo and Redo Buttons: With the newly added Undo and Redo arrow buttons, you can effortlessly toggle back and forth between photo size, angle, filter and tone adjustments without worrying about making permanent changes you don’t like.

Samsung Electronics to Showcase How Enhanced AI and Connectivity Enable Expansive Kitchen Experiences at CES 2024

 Samsung Electronics today announced that it will use CES® 2024 to introduce Samsung’s newest kitchen products, applications and features, powered by artificial intelligence (AI) and SmartThings connectivity, enabling an ecosystem that delivers better food and kitchen experiences. Notable products and features in the lineup include the 2024 Bespoke 4-Door Flex™ Refrigerator with AI Family Hub™+ — which is the industry’s first home Internet of Things (IoT) refrigerator launched in 2016 — equipped with the all-new AI Vision Inside feature, the new Anyplace Induction Cooktop and enhancements to the Samsung Food service.

AI Features That Enable Superior Food Ideas and Intelligence

To enhance the experience in the kitchen, the 2024 Bespoke 4-Door Flex™ Refrigerator with AI Family Hub™+ has been packed with a variety of innovative technologies . One impressive new feature is AI Vision Inside, which uses a smart internal camera that can recognize items being placed in and out of the refrigerator. Also, it is equipped with “Vision AI” technology, which can identify up to 33 different fresh food items based on a predefined set of training data comprising approximately one million food photographs . With the food list that is available and editable on the Family Hub™+ screen, users can also manually add expiration date information for items that they would like to keep track and the refrigerator sends out alerts through its 32” LCD screen for items before reaching that date.

 

Also, with the assistance of the Fridge Manager feature, which monitors the status of the water filter in the refrigerator and alerts when a replacement is needed, the Family Hub™+ screen offers easy, one-click purchase of new water filters from Amazon .

Appliance screen functionality does not stop there. Samsung’s new Anyplace Induction Cooktop and Slide-in Range are each equipped with a 7” LCD screen, where users can view the recipes that were selected and saved from the Family Hub™+ to assist their meal preparation . The new Anyplace Induction also offers improvements in its basic cooking features such as efficient and borderless heating of pots and pans on any part of the cooktop, thanks to Samsung’s induction sheet coil technology. And with Anti-Scratch Glass applied instead of a typical ceramic glass, users won’t have to worry about scratching their induction surface when moving cookware.

What’s more, the Samsung Food application — which can now be accessed on the Family Hub™+, the Anyplace Induction Cooktop and the Slide-in Range — brings several upgraded AI features. The “Personalize” feature3 powered by the enhanced Food AI allows users to adapt recipes to reflect their dietary requirements beyond what was previously available — vegan, fusion — to accommodate gluten-free, pescatarian, dairy-free and other diets. Meanwhile, the new “Image-to-Recipe” feature  with the enhanced Vision AI now recognizes meals and multiple food items from photographs and explores dishes that can be made with those ingredients. Lastly, Tailored Meal Plan analyses users’ information by connecting to their Samsung Health profiles  to create personalized meals based on their health needs.

With the Bespoke 4-Door Flex™ Refrigerator with AI Family Hub™+ as the centrepiece, the food ecosystem is all about how the AI features in these kitchen products and the Samsung Food service connect and support each other, enabling users to have a better relationship with their food throughout the day and delivering a full range of smart, connected kitchen experiences.

 

Samsung Food also connects with and ties in Samsung Health  to benefit the lives of users. The service uses health information collected from Samsung Health to suggest healthy, appropriate recipes.
