Say ‘Buon Appetito’ to A Week of Authentic and Extraordinary Italian Taste in Malaysia

Malaysians will get to savour a week of extraordinary and true Italian taste from 5 -11 December 2022 with the launch of the ‘Week of the Italian Cuisine in the World’ project with the aim of promoting Italian culture through food and authentic Italian ingredients.  This year’s “Week of the Italian Cuisine in the World” campaign is the 7th Edition and will feature the theme “Conviviality, Sustainability and Innovation: The Ingredients of Italian Cuisine for People's Health and the Protection of the Planet”.

This event, which takes place in more than 100 countries globally, is organised by the Italian Foreign Ministry. In Malaysia, it is jointly organised by the Italian Embassy and Italian Trade Agency in Kuala Lumpur in collaboration with the Italy-Malaysia Business Association. This year’s campaign will focus on ‘Conviviality, Sustainability and Innovation’, as well as represents an opportunity to promote the quality of Italian agri-food products, enhance the values of the Italian sustainable and healthy lifestyle rooted in the Mediterranean Diet, and foster innovation in the agri-tech field in order to rethink our dysfunctional agri-food systems.

To kick off the campaign, a team of four chefs from Italy graced the official launch of the campaign with special authentic Italian dishes. Headed by Chef Simone Guglielmo of the Italian Restaurant “I Rocci di Casciano Barbara” in the Apulia Region, they presented Grilled octopus with sweet paprika, tomato puree, potato confit, roasted onion, and black olive powder, Squid Ink Gnocchi and Truffle Tuna fillet cooked two ways.

The Ambassador of Italy to Malaysia, Massimo Rustico noted that Italian food is a well-loved cuisine in the country as it resonates very well with the heart warming and comfort-for-the-soul type of cooking that Malaysians grew up with.

“The Italian gastronomy scene in Malaysia is thriving and Malaysians, who are known to be passionate about great food, are one of the more adventurous people I know who are keen to try out new foods. Our sixth edition last year that highlighted millennial food traditions of the Mediterranean diet was very successful and we intend to continue the momentum this year.

“We are very excited and proud to share the love of our culture, food and ingredients through the ‘Week of the Italian Cuisine of the World’ campaign. This campaign truly represents the essence of what it means to be 100% Made in Italy where we practice conviviality, sustainability and innovation to safeguard our food traditions and cultures, including the people who make them.”

Over the course of the week, connoisseurs and Italian culture aficionados can enjoy masterclasses that showcase authentic Italian traditions, high-quality products and regional specialties, while enticing palates at the best Italian restaurants in the country. There are opportunities to learn about the 100% Made in Italy products and their precious link with their region of origin, as well as choosing and making the best use of Italian ingredients to protect and preserve agri-food companies making these products.

Ambassador Rustico added, “The one week in December will be a window into what Italy has to offer - the tradition of high-quality food and wine, the diversity of each region’s specialties, all of which are central to Italian identity and culture. We invite all Malaysians on a journey to Italy and its culinary destinations, immerse yourself in Italian culinary culture and, of course, buon appetito! We truly hope that Malaysians will enjoy the quality and uniqueness of authentic Italian cuisine, products and ingredients.”

During the ‘Week of Italian Cuisine of the World’, Malaysians can look forward to the following events:

Special recipes and menus among the 20 participating Italian restaurants

Malaysians can look forward to special recipes and menus for one week only across various participating Italian Restaurants. For the full list, please visit the website.

For authentic Italian restaurants, look out for the sticker logo “Settimana della cucina Italiana nel Mondo 2022” approved by the Italian Embassy and Italian Trade Agency in Kuala Lumpur.

Project with University of Gastronomic Sciences of Pollenzo

There will be an online course of 20 video lessons in collaboration with the University of Gastronomic Sciences (UNISG) of Pollenzo, a prestigious, world-class university located in northern Italy. The historic city of Pollenzo is a jewel in the amazingly beautiful Piedmont region, famous for its wines and truffles from the Langhe region.

The video lessons are unique as UNISG celebrates the idea that gastronomy is everywhere, from “every product of the land, the seas, and the forests” to representing “every cuisine, from the simplest and most domestic to the most refined.”

Malaysians can learn about the identity and history of Italian cuisine through typical products and recipes from the twenty Italian regions. This is an opportunity to upskill your Italian cuisine knowledge and cooking to impress your friends and family.

Samsung Malaysia Electronics Launches High-Performance 990 PRO SSD Optimized for Gaming and Creative Applications

Samsung Malaysia Electronics today announced the availability of the new 990 PRO at Samsung Authorized Dealers nationwide, the company’s high-performance NVMe SSD based on PCIe 4.0. Delivering lightning-fast speeds and superior power efficiency, the new SSD is optimized for graphically demanding games and other intensive tasks including 3D rendering, 4K video editing and data analysis.

“With continuing innovations in gaming, 4K and 8K technology as well as AI-driven applications, consumers’ need for high-performance storage is growing exponentially,” said KyuYoung Lee, Vice President of the Memory Brand Product Biz Team at Samsung Electronics. “The 990 PRO provides an optimal balance of speed, power efficiency and reliability, making it an ideal choice for avid gamers and creative professionals seeking uninterrupted work and play.”

Extreme Performance for an Immersive Gameplay Experience

Featuring Samsung’s latest V-NAND and a new proprietary controller, the 990 PRO series offers the highest speed currently available from the PCIe 4.0 interface.  The SSD delivers sequential read and write speeds of up to 7,450 megabytes per second (MB/s) and 6,900 MB/s, respectively, while random read and write speeds come in at up to 1,400K and 1,550K IOPS,  respectively. With up to a 55% improvement in random performance over the 980 PRO, the 990 PRO is particularly well-suited for heavy gaming as well as creative and productivity tasks.

High-performance NVMe SSDs are also critical in reaping the full benefits of the latest game console and gaming technologies. Powered by NVMe, the 990 PRO brings faster loading times to PCs and consoles for a more immersive gaming experience. When tested with Forspoken,  Luminous Productions’ forthcoming action role-playing game supporting the latest game-loading technology, the map loading time was about one second, compared to four seconds for a SATA SSD and 28 seconds for a hard disk drive (HDD).

Ultimate Power Efficiency and Reliable Thermal Control

Built on a low-power architecture, Samsung’s newly designed controller dramatically improves the SSD’s power efficiency by up to 50% compared to the 980 PRO.  Additionally, the 990 PRO employs a nickel coating on the controller and a heat spreader label on the drive for reliable thermal management. Samsung’s Dynamic Thermal Guard technology further ensures that the drive’s temperature stays in the optimal range.

The 990 PRO with Heatsink version offers an additional layer of thermal control while its RGB lights add more style to the drive. Samsung’s 990 PRO is also an excellent solution for laptop and desktop upgrades as well as for build-your-own PCs, providing a significant performance boost while using less power for increased battery life and thermal management.

The 990 PRO and 990 PRO with Heatsink will be available in two different storage capacities of 1TB and 2TB model respectively and is available for purchase at participating Samsung Authorized Dealers nationwide.

Boasting exceptional visuals, pristine sound design, and a sleek, sophisticated look, Samsung OLED harnesses Samsung’s status as an industry leader in vivid display technology to provide a screen that pushes the boundaries of home entertainment.

“Samsung has always pushed to reinvent the wheel, and the launch of the new Samsung OLED is a culmination of our relentless commitment to crafting unforgettable experiences with our immersive TV displays. Bringing Colour to Life

The new Samsung OLED is equipped with absolutely stunning picture quality, made possible by Samsung’s new Neural Quantum Processor 4K. The TV’s multi-model neural networks optimize screen brightness at the pixel level through cutting-edge AI processing, which allows viewers to experience incredibly clear contrast in visuals. Enjoy immaculate colour reproduction which makes black deeper, light brighter.

Additionally, Samsung OLED’s built-in AI processor also automatically upscales whatever is on screen to a high definition 4K that would make any film buff jealous. With the power of 20 different neural networks working together behind-the-scenes, the Samsung OLED automatically gathers data scene by scene, and optimizes the picture to various viewing condition.

For avid gamers, Samsung OLED also features an unrivalled 4K@120 Hz refresh rate that will ensure you don’t miss a single moment of your favourite game. All four ports of the TV also support HDMI 2.1 connections, which means you can plug in your preferred gaming console in a snap of your fingers. Whether you’re having a fun competition with the family, or going for gold-ranked online matches, rest assured that Samsung OLED is a no-lag, no-frills display that can keep up with your lightning-quick reflexes.

A Soundscape to Remember

Of course, no home theatre experience would be complete without an immersive soundscape to complement the breath-taking visuals. To provide consumers with the ultimate TV audio experience, Samsung OLED has adopted industry-leading Dolby Atmos® technology for an extraordinary, lifelike 3D soundscape that travels around the screen.

Unlike conventional TVs which only feature virtual support for Dolby Atmos, Samsung’s Dolby Atmos technology is powered physically by dedicated multi-channel TV speakers all around the screen. Forget going to the theatre to experience surround-sound when you can have it in your own living room! The dedicated speakers also enable Samsung’s powerful AI motion tracker technology, Object Tracking Sound (OTS), which analyses each scene to find the optimal soundscape for each scene. With four speakers at the upper and lower sides, orient yourself perfectly in the action with this full-range sound system — never before has home entertainment felt this real.

Samsung OLED can be upgraded even further with Samsung’s exclusive Q-Symphony, which utilizes the Samsung Soundbar to further deepen a viewer’s immersion. This wireless speaker is designed to work with Samsung TVs to boost audio so that it fills up the entire room. With automatic activation and effortless setup, bask in the sweet orchestra of a well-oiled home theatre system without even walking out your front door.

Built for the Refined at Heart

With decades’ worth of experience in polishing and fine-tuning products, Samsung OLED boasts the very pinnacle of aesthetic functionality. Its premium, ultra-slim body far outclasses the form factor of other existing OLED TVs, but with no compromise on the TV’s functionality and ease-of-use. Featuring a minimalistic bezel, slim flat back profile with flush-fit wall-mount solutions as thin as 7.5mm, Samsung OLED makes a perfect, no-hassle accompaniment to any interior.

Effortless Setup, Endless Entertainment
