Samuel Hui, the God of Song returns to Genting for two nights of electrifying showmanship. The veteran singer cum actor made his mark in the Canto-pop and movie industry from the 1960s to 1990s. He has also starred in several comedy blockbusters in the 1970s with his brothers Michael and Ricky, whereby he composed and sang many of the blockbusters' theme songs. His music appealed to the Hong Kong masses and working class citizens with its simple lyrics. Songs such as ‘Pun Kan Pat Leong’, ‘Sap Gor Lui Zai’, ‘Hok Sang Kor’, ‘Zui Kai Pak Dong’ and ‘Long Zi Sam Sing’ have become timeless classics. Another one of his top hits, 'Kuai Ma Siong Sing', had even been broadcasted in the British BBC and RTHK English station.
Samuel retired from the entertainment scene in 1992 after performing at 41 farewell concerts at the Hong Kong Coliseum. However, the deaths of close colleagues, Leslie Cheung and Anita Mui in 2003 influenced his decision to retract his earlier retirement affirmation. His return to the entertainment scene was received with sold-out concerts from the Hong Kong public.
In the year 2005, he performed to a full house crowd in Arena of Stars with his guests artistes which included his sons Ryan and Scott, and his brother Ricky. Start marking your calendar for this not-to-be-missed concert and book fast to avoid disappointment!
